Cigarette Lawsuits
Cigarette lawsuits vary depending on the client’s case. Usually cases are held to uphold human rights and for the health benefits of others. Some are put forward because a family has lost a loved one because of a dangerous chemical found in the cigarettes. Without a doubt though lawsuits against cigarette companies are increasing in number as hundreds of people are realizing the damage smoking is doing to there bodies, and others around them.
With public smoking slowly being banned, as well as companies being given limitations; such as being unable to promote smoking in films and on television (two of the world's biggest markets), it is increasingly difficult for them to make money from it. However having said that, it may be more difficult to make a lawsuit against a cigarette company if the case does not have a solid ground.
For example to make a case stating that a family member died because of a chemical found in their cigarettes could be taken into hand equally on both sides. Cigarette companies place warnings on every single packet in order to ensure the person smoking them that it is damaging their bodies. So therefore it can be blamed on the person for doing the damage purposefully, but the saving grace from this is if the cigarette company failed to put a warning on identifying the new chemical or a warning saying certain people may be allergic. This is therefore counted as negligence.
